Ryan's Story
I often jest that I began my journey in this industry by fluffing pillows and vacuuming my father's Interior Design Studio at the tender age of 7 on Saturday mornings. Throughout high school, I spent my afternoons delivering and installing his interior design projects, a routine that continued into my college years at Harrington College of Design. It was during this time that I honed my skills, eventually becoming his top designer.
My passion for interior design and admiration for exquisite furniture stem from my upbringing, with my father and grandmother serving as my primary inspirations. To this day, my father continues to run one of the most exquisite furniture showrooms in the country at Brittcarter.net.
As a third-generation interior designer deeply rooted in the furniture industry, I've had the privilege of immersing myself in furniture manufacturing firsthand. I've traveled to factories in North Carolina, Vietnam, and Italy, gaining invaluable insights into craftsmanship and design processes.
In 2017, I established Carter Lewis in Alexandria, Virginia. However, my wife Carmen and I were enchanted by the allure of the Charleston lifestyle, prompting us to relocate by the summer of 2019, where we've since been serving clients in this vibrant community.
